– Editorial: This section will be dedicated to analyzing and reflecting on issues related to hemostasis and thrombosis, different preventive and therapeutic approaches, as well as the progress made in the field of biomedical research. Maximum extension: 5 pages and 5 references. By invitation of the Editor only.
– Original research article: The maximum extension will be 20 pages (Word format) including the iconography and bibliography. It presents the results of original clinical investigation or basic research. In the original articles the body of the manuscript should be structured by: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusions.
To promote the transparency and quality of the research, the authors will be asked as an essential requirement to self-assess adherence to the relevant international guidelines according to the type of study:
– Review article, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses: The maximum extension will be 20 pages (Word format) including the iconography and bibliography. It approaches a current issue of medical relevance. The main author must be an authority in the area or subject under review and must submit a list of their own publications which endorse their expertise in the field.
For systematic reviews and meta-analyses, the authors will be required to submit the self-adherence form according to the PRISMA statement: http://www.prisma-statement.org/
– Scientific letters: It refers to those articles of clinical research with a small group of patients or preliminary results of basic research. You should add the front page with a maximum of six authors.
– Letters to the editor: They are meant to expose: 1) positive or negative comments in response to a previous publication; 2) the concise communication of an investigation; or 3) a case report. It must have a maximum of 4 authors, a maximum length of 800 words, a title in Spanish and in English, 2 figures, no tables.
- Quarterly Image. This is a section designed to display images of interest in hemostasis and thrombosis. It may encompass clinical aspects, imaging studies, pathological anatomy, or any other content deemed relevant to hemostasis and thrombosis specialists. Two or three illustrations of excellent quality should be submitted, accompanied by a brief description highlighting the importance of the image, in both English and Spanish (maximum of 250 words). If necessary, up to three bibliographic references can be included. Patient privacy must be respected.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
Spanish abstract. The abstract will be presented in a maximum of 250 words and will indicate the purpose of the research, basic procedures (sample selection, analytical, and observational methods), main findings (specific data and preferably their statistical significance), as well as relevant conclusions and the originality of the research. Depending on the type of article, the abstract should be structured with the following sections: Introduction, Objective, Material and Methods, Results, and Conclusions. At the end, 3 to 6 keywords will be listed to facilitate inclusion in international indices. It is recommended to use MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) and DeCS (Health Sciences Descriptors) terms.
English abstract. The abstract, with a maximum of 250 words, outlines the research purpose, basic procedures (including sample selection and analytical and observational methods), main findings (preferably with specific data and statistical significance), relevant conclusions, and the originality of the study. The English abstract mirrors the structure of the spanish abstract, starting with an English version of the title. Additionally, 3 to 6 keywords (keywords) will be provided.
Introduction. It must include the background, statement of the problem, and the objective of the study in a free and continuous writing duly supported by the bibliography.
Material and Methods. The characteristics of the sample, the methods used with relevant references, should be clearly indicated so that other researchers can conduct similar studies. The statistical methods used should be clearly indicated with the corresponding reference. Authors should detail in this section the ethical procedures they have followed, necessary for experiments with animals, patients, handling of confidential data, informed consent, etc., and that they have the authorization of the ethics committee of their institution.
Results. It should include the important findings of the study, comparing them with the strictly necessary figures or graphs that expand the information provided in the text. Do not repeat information in the text and in the tables and/or figures.
Discussion. The results should be contrasted with what is reported in the literature and with the objectives and hypotheses proposed in the work.
Conclusions. In this section, the main conclusions of the study will be summarized, and if they are preliminary, future studies that need to be carried out will be suggested. It is necessary for the conclusions to be consistent with the objectives set and to derive directly from the research process carried out.
References. They will be presented according to the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors). References will be indicated with consecutive Arabic numbers and in the order they first appear in the text. They will be referred to in the text, tables, and figure captions with the corresponding numbers. In citations with multiple authors (more than six authors), only the first 6 authors of the work should be included, followed by et al., after the abbreviation of the name or names of the 6th author. The opinions contained in the article are the responsibility of the authors.
Articles will not be accepted for review if they are not prepared in accordance with the author instructions.
EDITORIAL PROCESS
The editorial process consists of 6 stages:
1. Receipt of the manuscript (indeterminate, depending on whether the author meets the requirements): its objective is to verify that the manuscript complies with the specifications of these author instructions and that the submitted documentation is complete.
2. Initial editorial review (maximum 5 business days): its objective is to corroborate the relevance, timeliness, originality, and scientific contribution of the manuscript, as well as the methodological and statistical soundness of the study. At this point, it will be subjected to an electronic plagiarism detection system. As a result, a rejection verdict may be obtained, or it will be sent for review by peer researchers.
3. Peer review (maximum 30 business days): Opinions of at least two experts in the field will be obtained, who will evaluate the technical and methodological aspects of the research.
4. Editorial review (maximum 7 business days): its objective is to make a decision based on the opinion of peer reviewers. The verdict can be rejected, major changes, minor changes, or accepted. In the case of major or minor changes, it will be submitted again for evaluation by the initial peer reviewers.
5. Final editing (6 weeks): its objective is technical and linguistic editing (and translation), layout of galleys, assignment of DOI, and correction by the author.
6. Advance publication: All manuscripts will be published ahead of print on the journal's website as soon as they complete the editing process, until they are incorporated into a final issue of the journal.
PROOFREADING (PDF) OF YOUR ACCEPTED ARTICLE
The corresponding author will receive the proofs of the article for review and correction of terminology errors or other updates related to data/figures. Since the article will already be edited according to the journal's internal standards, style corrections will not be accepted. The corresponding author will receive an email with the article in PDF format, on which they can leave their comments. The author may need Adobe Reader version 9 (or higher), which is available for free download. For other system requirements, please visit the Adobe website.
Alternatively, authors may make a list of corrections and email them. Any major changes at this stage will be subject to the Editor's approval. Please ensure all changes are included in a single email, as we cannot guarantee the inclusion of subsequent corrections.
Proofreading is the responsibility of the author.
